Individual Health Plans: Important Premium Payment Reminders

SHARE:

Published: 02.06.2025

Please be reminded, for both on-exchange and off-exchange policies, it is very important for members to pay their first monthly premium promptly to avoid being terminated for non-payment of premium.

Termination for non-payment of premium is not considered a Qualifying Life Event. In some instances, reinstatement may not be possible. Additionally, ID cards are only issued to the member once payment is reflected on the account and is paid to date.

Carriers typically have a 30-day grace period for off-exchange policies and a 90-day grace period for on-exchange policies that receive a premium subsidy. Members should always consult with the carrier directly to determine which grace period applies to their policy.

Learn about premium payments for each carrier below.
